Introducing the SENEF and Progisap Press Review. This monthly press review is a digest of all the latest news from the personal services sector. Here is the September issue.

The work of caregivers: How can it be adapted for the future?

As the population ages and retirement homes become less attractive, the demand for in-home caregivers is growing.

However, the supply of homecare workers is dwindling, exacerbated by inflation, and the burden is increasingly falling on family carers. To lighten the load, the silver economy sector is expanding, notably through innovative solutions such as remote assistance and home automation, although home improvements are often more effective.

DOMetVIE, since 2012, has been offering adapted solutions that reduce the physical effort required of caregivers and improve their quality of life.

Pension reform: the big question

Pension reform, at the heart of Emmanuel Macron's second term in office, has reached a decisive turning point with the arrival of Michel Barnier at Matignon. Barnier must decide whether to adjust the reform, which extends the statutory retirement age from 62 to 64, or to maintain its application in the face of strong union and political opposition. Despite an unsuccessful consultation, the previous government used Article 49.3 to pass the law without a vote, leading to tensions and outbursts during demonstrations.

Macron remains firm on his intentions, but Barnier may have to alter the political course to reach a consensus, taking into account social and economic challenges. France is also looking to its European neighbors, where the retirement age is often higher, which could influence the debate in France. While promises to raise small pensions have proved moderate, Barnier's decisions are eagerly awaited, and his negotiating skills will be crucial in the face of the many pressures he faces.

Domitys' beautiful encounters

After three successful editions, the Domitys Group's «Belles Rencontres» are back at the end of September. This communication campaign, open to all, allows seniors and the curious to discover the daily life of residents and behind the scenes of this new type of housing.

The fourth edition goes beyond a simple visit, offering a variety of activities and entertainment. Visitors will be able to take part in creative workshops, attend debates, enjoy walks and admire art exhibitions, thus encouraging intergenerational exchanges.

Olivier Wigniolle, the Group's Executive Chairman, emphasizes that the aim of this initiative is to promote Domitys' commitment to good aging. He emphasizes that residences are not just places to live, but dynamic communities offering enriching experiences, while guaranteeing a secure and caring environment that encourages autonomy and joie de vivre.
